Pet CBD oil is two things in a bottle: hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) and a carrier oil. The carrier is almost always MCT — medium-chain triglycerides, coconut-derived — which keeps the CBD stable, liquid, and measurable. Those are the functional ingredients. The formulation differences between a pet CBD oil and a human CBD oil lie in the concentration per millilitre and in the serving-size guidance on the label, both of which are calibrated for an animal's body rather than an adult human body.
Hemp-derived means the CBD comes from Cannabis sativa L. grown as a low-THC plant. Hemp is the same botanical species as high-THC cannabis but bred to stay below the legal THC threshold. The CBD extracted from hemp is the same molecule whether it is going into a product for humans or one for animals.
Our pet oil takes an additional step in processing: it removes the THC that occurs naturally in the hemp extract. The finished oil contains no detectable THC — a THC-free specification confirmed by third-party laboratory testing on every batch. This is different from our full-spectrum human oils, which retain a legal trace of THC under 0.3% as part of the whole-plant extract.

The clearest way to see the difference between pet CBD oil and human CBD oil is to compare the formulations directly.
Our human 1000mg full-spectrum CBD oil contains 1000mg of CBD in a 50ml bottle — 20mg per millilitre — with a trace of THC under 0.3% and a serving guide for an adult human.
Our pet CBD oil 2000mg contains 2000mg of CBD in the same 50ml bottle — 40mg per millilitre — with 0% THC and a serving guide for an animal by body weight.
The mg/ml number is higher in the pet oil, but the per-serving quantity stated on the label is much smaller than a human serving. The intent is to deliver an appropriate amount of CBD for an animal's body weight in a small, measurable volume. The higher concentration makes that possible without requiring the animal to consume a large amount of oil.
Both oils use MCT as the carrier. That is the one shared formulation element. Everything else — total CBD, concentration, THC status, serving guidance — is different.

CBD oil for cats too?

How to read the label — mg, mL, THC status
Whether you are comparing our pet oil to another product or checking the bottle you have in hand, the label check is straightforward:
Step 1 — Total mg. Find the total CBD content stated on the front of the bottle. Ours is 2000mg.
Step 2 — Volume. Find the bottle volume in millilitres. Ours is 50ml.
Step 3 — Calculate mg/ml. Divide total mg by volume. 2000 ÷ 50 = 40mg/ml for our pet oil.
Step 4 — Confirm THC status. The label should state "THC-free" or "0% THC". Our label does, and the batch COA confirms it. If a label claims THC-free but no COA is available, that is worth querying.
Step 5 — Check the serving guide. The label's serving guidance should be sized for animals, typically referencing body weight. Do not use a human CBD oil's serving guide for an animal.
Step 6 — Carrier oil. Our carrier is MCT (coconut-derived). Check any product you compare.

A note on what "THC-free" actually means on a COA: the Certificate of Analysis will list the THC content found in the batch by a third-party laboratory. "THC-free" or "non-detect" means the laboratory's instruments found no THC above the detection threshold — typically fractions of a percent. For our pet oil, the COA confirms 0% THC across every tested batch. That is the meaningful verification behind the label claim; a label that says "THC-free" without a COA to back it up is making an unverified claim. Is CBD oil for pets legal in VIC?
Australia's CBD regulatory framework is national, applying in VIC as it does in every other state and territory. The Therapeutic Goods Administration governs cannabidiol products for human use.
